Time and Tide – The Story of Sheringham’s Fishermen and Their Families
Fishing offshore is not just a job, and it probably never has been. Especially was this true of the time period in which this book is largely set, before the Norfolk fishing industry declined beyond recognition, as in so many other parts of our coast. It was a tradition, a craft, a calling even, but above all it was a way of life that affected whole families and whole communities. So it was in Sheringham.
Time and Tide tells the story of Sheringham’s fishing families during a century of dramatic change. It is a story told largely in their own words and through this new collection of evocative photographs.
